Alternative Fuel Companies
There is little doubt that we are coming to the end of the fossil fuel era. Alternative fuel companies are no longer a side niche in the great energy debate.
Alternative Fuel Companies
For all the present criticisms rendered against them, fossil fuels are actually something that should be celebrated to a certain extent. Oil forms the basis of practically everything we do or use. Most people think of oil as solely a fuel or lubricant, but it also forms the basis of most materials, such as plastics, used to create products. Even a good bit of our food contains it.
Obviously, there are some downsides to fossil fuels. The effects of it as a pollutant have been recognized and debated for some time. More recently, the global warming debate has “warmed up” with fossil fuels front and center. These issues are serious, but the debate misses a fundamental point. The world will not be insanely warm by the end of the century! Why? Because we will run out of fossil fuels, specifically oil and natural gas, well before then.
Fossil fuels are a finite resource. It is as simple as that. Peak oil production in the world is believed to have been met in 2006. Even the most conservative estimates put the peak production as happening no later than 2007. After that, fuel demands will rise and fuel supply will fall. While we might have another 40 to 60 years in reserves, the prices are going to skyrocket once the public realizes it. This is where alternative fuel companies come in. Simply put, changing our fuel usage is no longer a choice.
